Eton, UK — May 13, 2013 — InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected healthcare, today announced  it will be showcasing the latest version of InterSystems TrakCare® at the World of Healthcare and IT conference and exhibition in Dublin on 13-15 May.  TrakCare is an Internet-based unified healthcare information system that rapidly delivers the benefits of an electronic patient record.

Deployed in 25 countries, TrakCare supports multiple languages and offers the broadest clinical, administrative, laboratory, and community care capabilities of any Internet-based healthcare information system. The system’s architecture is unified by a single data repository that utilises the InterSystems CACHÉ® object database.

Conference attendees visiting InterSystems at stand 509 will be able to learn more about the latest enhancements to TrakCare that include:

Advanced closed loop medication management

New TrakCare functionality supports global best practices in medication management with significant enhancements in intravenous prescribing and patient-controlled analgesia. These provide clinicians with industry-leading levels of control over intravenously delivered medications and new calculation methods, which reduce the risk of errors.

By extending support for more complex prescribing, TrakCare helps ensure that a patient’s full medications history is captured in the electronic patient record, providing a full view of allergies and drug interactions at the time of prescription, further improving patient safety.

Real-time operational analytics

TrakCare Analytics is an embedded capability within TrakCare.  It facilitates business process analysis and optimisation using live operational data. TrakCare offers a library of over 100 pre-configured dashboards, enabling more efficient operations, timely decision making, risk identification and tracking of metrics against key performance indicators. The analytics capabilities enable hospitals to track and monitor patient outcomes, and benchmark treatment procedures and industry-standard outcome indicators.

“InterSystems understands the challenges clinicians face with heavy workloads and managing many patients,” said Christine Chapman, TrakCare Chief Operating Officer at InterSystems. “That is why we focus our development efforts on the most simple way to present and process relevant information, so clinicians can remain focused on what matters most.”

Touch-optimised support for iOS and Android devices

“To improve the quality of care and patient safety while controlling costs, healthcare organisations need to deliver the benefits of an electronic patient record in any care setting, on any device available to clinicians,” said Chapman. “The benefit to our mobile approach – using a single software application supporting common Internet standards – is that we can offer a common user interface across all platforms that auto-detects mobile devices to optimise specific functionality like touch.”

TrakCare’s touch-optimised support for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets enables gesture scrolling, pagination, and change-of-device orientation.  Users automatically receive their information in formats optimised for their device, including a search and ward list view and a range of mobile electronic patient record views such as clinical notes view and entry, diagnosis view and entry, vital signs view and entry, orders view, images view, and results view.

“TrakCare leads the international healthcare industry in providing clinicians with the information and functionality needed to support patient-centred care,” concludes Chapman. “This is critical to the success of connected care and reflects InterSystems’ track record of implementing breakthrough initiatives that integrate acute and community care in Brazil, Chile, Australia, Scotland, and other countries.”
