Cambridge, Mass.—May 10, 2004—InterSystems Corporation and iWay Software, an Information Builders Company and the world’s leading adapter provider, today announced that InterSystems is offering iWay adapters as a component of its Ensemble integration platform.

InterSystems recently launched Ensemble, the only integration platform to incorporate the functionality of an integration server, application server, high performance object database and a unified development and management environment in a single, architecturally consistent product. “Ensemble is designed to deliver rapid integration for even the most complex projects that call for integrating a wide range of applications and disparate databases,” says InterSystems Managing Director of Application Integration Trevor Matz. “Our partnership with iWay, whose adapter technology is also focused on rapid integration, results in a synergy that has already delivered early concrete benefits for Ensemble projects.”

New York-based iWay Software is a market leader in middleware that accelerates e-business initiatives through the rapid integration of complex back-office systems. “InterSystems’ ability to effectively leverage our adapters within Ensemble clearly illustrates their in-depth understanding of enterprise integration requirements,” says John Senor, president of iWay Software. “Their technical expertise and creativity come across in their newly launched Ensemble product line.”

Rapid Integration for Customer Success

One early example of successful integration initiatives using Ensemble and iWay Software adapters is the OneFamily system implemented by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF). The largest agency in the state, DCF went live in August with the first phase of a project that will integrate 59 applications and multiple databases in a composite Web application that provides a single, unified view of all relevant information about any individual DCF client. “We began with five applications, one of which uses the largest IMS database in the world,” says Ben Harris, deputy secretary operations and information technology for DCF. “With Ensemble and the iWay Software IMS adapter, we were able to integrate information from five systems and go live in just 90 days. With the success of phase one, we’re moving forward with a plan that calls for an aggressive application rollout throughout 2004. InterSystems and iWay Software have made rapid integration a reality for DCF.”

Fisepe, the company responsible for planning, coordinating and executing IT programs for the government sector in the state of Pernambuco in Brazil, is another example. Fisepe used Ensemble and the iWay Software Telnet Emulator Adapter for 3270 to integrate purchase order and materials administration systems to create an electronic bidding system. “InterSystems executed our initial integration project in just 10 days, with results that exceeded expectations,” says Fisepe President and Managing Director Carlos Farache.” The iWay Software adapter was key to enable integration between our mainframe operating environment and the Windows 2000 server platforms, where our government management systems are running.”

The growing base of Ensemble customers worldwide is reporting similar success, according to Matz. “It’s a pleasure to partner with iWay Software to achieve this level of early customer success so quickly. Their technology and market leadership in the middleware sector underlie our very successful working relationship.”
