Comprehensive solution package addresses Interoperability and Patient Access rule requirements effective January 1, 2021
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., September 21, 2020 — InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve the most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, today announced the release of its HealthShare® CMS Solution Pack™ to help customers meet the requirements of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (9115-F). The rule, designed to give patients increased access to their health information and improve interoperability while reducing the burden on payers and providers, is slated to roll out January 1, 2021 through January 1, 2022.
The HealthShare CMS Solution Pack will allow InterSystems customers to access required claims, clinical, and pharmacy benefit data, regardless of its format, and transform it into FHIR 4.0.1 representations. InterSystems will share additional insights into how the HealthShare CMS Solution Pack will address the challenges associated with meeting the new federal guidelines and how they will impact patients, providers, and payers at this year’s InterSystems Virtual Summit this October.
For payers subject to the rule, the HealthShare CMS Solution Pack provides a turnkey solution to support the Patient Access APIs, and Provider Directory in 2021, and Payer-to-Payer Data Exchange in 2022. The HealthShare CMS Solution Pack is based on the implementation guides referenced in the final rules and includes a FHIR 4.0.1. gateway, full support for the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI) clinical data set, and the required privacy and security standards.
“For years, Hixny has been able to rely on InterSystems as a key technology partner,” said John Bunnell, Director of Account Operations at Hixny. “They understand the CMS regulatory requirements that go into providing certified interoperability solutions for both patient and provider access to data. Their certified technology allows Hixny to provide its partners the ability to meet Promoting Interoperability requirements.”
