InterSystems Impact Awards 2026
Recognizing Innovation Across the InterSystems Community
For a second year in a row, the Impact Awards recognize groundbreaking innovations by our customers that drive positive change and progress across the world. This year’s awardees were chosen from a pool nominated and considered in the first months of 2025.
Both this and last year's awards have InterSystems customers’ innovation stories as their focus — how they are pushing boundaries and making an impact. These awards celebrate what these customers have achieved for their clients, users, and patients. By highlighting transformative projects, the Impact Awards aim to promote innovation within the InterSystems community, foster collaboration and strengthen connections among partners, and enhance our partners' and InterSystems reputation as catalysts for fundamental advances in the use of data technology.
Last year’s inaugural winners — including CVS Health, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Quest Diagnostics — set a high bar. This year, we raised the bar even higher. To receive an Impact Award, the innovation must meet these essential criteria:
- Make a significant difference.
- Break new ground. (Bonus points for AI-driven vision/work)
- Set an example.
All markets and regions of the InterSystems community were represented among the nominees and winners. Starting with consideration of more than 1000 projects, this year's pool was narrowed to about 50 nominated finalists, from which 16 regional and world winners were selected at the end of May by judges from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Awards were given in six categories: Healthcare Providers, Health Technology, Health Plans, Public Sector & Health Information Exchanges (HIEs), Supply Chain, and Finance.

This year's Impact Awards were presented by InterSystems at the READY 2025 summit in Orlando in late June, where most of the winners received their trophies. The winners who did not attend READY will receive their awards at their respective regional summits or from their account managers.
World winners in their respective categories were invited to a VIP Reception on the summit's opening night where they had the opportunity to connect and network with fellow awardees past and present from across the world, InterSystems executives, and staff. It was our way of celebrating their contributions and fostering meaningful conversations among innovators.
Each awardee was able to choose a scope of publicity for their awarded initiative that they feel comfortable with. The possible scope ranges from the READY announcement alone to publishing articles and participating in social media announcements.
Most awardees chose a maximum scope of publicity. Articles presenting their innovations are under preparation now and will be published later this year. These articles will be collected in an innovation booklet featuring all interested awardees but will also be distributed separately.

Broader Impact of Innovation
The Impact Awards 2025 not only proclaim the achievements of the winning organizations, but also highlight the broader implications of these innovations for healthcare, the public sector and health information exchanges, supply chain, and finance. These projects set new standards for data governance, AI integration, and sustainable practices, inspiring others to push the boundaries of what is possible.
Independent Panel of Judges from MIT
A panel of distinguished MIT faculty members evaluated the nominees’ submissions for the 2025 Impact Awards. After individual assessments, they deliberated as a group at the end of May to consider the nominees and select the winners based on the Impact Awards criteria.
Well-known for researching and teaching innovation, MIT’s Phil Budden, Leslie Owens, and Michael Schrage served as the judges for this year.
-
Dr. Phil Budden is Senior Lecturer, Technological Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Strategic Management, and co-author of Accelerating Innovation.
-
Leslie Ann Owens is Associate Director, Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship; and co-author of Data is Everybody’s Business: The Fundamentals of Data Monetization. Former Executive Director, MIT Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) and Senior Lecturer.
-
Michael Schrage is Research Fellow with the Sloan School of Management's Initiative on the Digital Economy, overseeing research on the future of key performance indicators (KPIs) as intelligent software agents and on vibe analytics, and is author of Who Do You Want Your Customers to Become?
Qualifying and Nominating Candidates for the Impact Awards
This year’s Impact Awards are the result of an extensive effort by the Innovation Acceleration team in winter and spring 2025.
To qualify, an innovation initiative must make use of InterSystems products or data managed by InterSystems products. It must have shown measurable progress over the previous year or as part of a longer-term effort. Nominations are strengthened by data and evidence of significant impact. Innovations that feature current or near-future AI components are given elevated preference. The Innovation Acceleration team collects nominations through online submissions and live interviews. The InterSystems account managers and others in similar roles provide crucial support: assisting with partners to identify appropriate innovation initiatives to nominate, encouraging nominees to supply supporting materials and evidence of impact, and attending the nominees’ interviews to support their project explanations.
Next Year: Impact Awards for 2026
Impact Awards are planned again for 2026! Direct customers of InterSystems technology should speak with their account managers about initiatives that might qualify. Or use the online nomination form.
Who’s eligible?
Any organization that is powered by InterSystems, either by direct use of our products or by leveraging data managed by our products, to create meaningful change or demonstrable progress in the past year. Your innovation doesn't require its impact to have been fully realized yet. You just need to have laid at least the groundwork for your initiative. (Startups and implementation partners are not eligible for the Impact Awards.)
