TrakCare Replaces Three Legacy Software Systems, Providing Centralised Reporting, Operational Efficiencies and Increased Reliability
Wellington, New Zealand – February 20, 2008 – InterSystems Corporation today announced that one of New Zealand’s leading private hospital groups, Wakefield Health Limited, is deploying InterSystems TrakCare™ software, a Web-based healthcare information system developed in Australia, at three hospitals spanning the Wellington and Hawke’s Bay regions.
Wakefield is the third New Zealand contract win since TrakCare’s NZ launch, and follows the successful implementation of a hospital-wide Electronic Patient Record at St George’s Hospital in Christchurch and integrated Web-based patient administration and clinicals software at Mercy Hospital in Dunedin.
TrakCare replaces three different patient administration and clinicals systems previously deployed at Wakefield, Bowen and Royston Hospitals. It provides a standardised system allowing Wakefield Health Limited to perform centralised reporting to better understand its business and promote synergies between the hospitals.
TrakCare will also provide operational efficiencies and mitigate the risk of systems failure by replacing legacy information systems that were becoming increasing difficult to maintain with a modern, Web-based healthcare information system.
“TrakCare provides us with a more robust and scaleable solution,” said Kaetrin Stephenson, Chief Financial Officer for Wakefield Health Limited. “We are future-proofing our IT systems and gaining the ability to report across the three hospitals at the same time.
“We also needed a solution that could be easily modified and wasn’t going to cost a lot to maintain,” said Mrs Stephenson. “We can change TrakCare to support our look and feel, for example, without having to reprogram the system and that will save money in the long run. TrakCare’s data mining tools also allow for self-service by users where previously we required a database administrator to create a report.”
The contract for TrakCare’s implementation is in two phases. The first will see the implementation of a Patient Master Index, Admissions/Transfers and Discharges, Medical Records, Patient Billing, National Health Index Interface, Finance Interface and Theatre Management at each hospital by July 2008. The second phase will add Results Reporting, Clinical Workbench Questionnaires and an Electronic Patient Record.
