ETON, UK, 19th February 2014 – InterSystems, a global leader in software for connected care, today announced that North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed InterSystems as the preferred bidder to supply and implement InterSystems TrakCare as its new patient administration system (PAS) and electronic patient record (EPR). TrakCare will play an integral role in enabling the trust to achieve its vision of having the best hospitals and healthcare provision in the region, and achieving a paper-free environment before 2018.

Lynne Hodgson, director of finance, information and ICT at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, said, “After completing a competitive procurement process, we are thrilled to be working with InterSystems. The trust sees this as a long-term partnership that will help us deliver our PAS and an electronic patient record across the whole continuum of care, and that will assist us in delivering the Department of Health’s vision for NHS trusts to be working paper-free by 2018.”

“We are delighted that North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust has decided that InterSystems is the right partner, and TrakCare the right solution, to realise its vision. InterSystems shares the trust’s values for high-quality staff, long-term relationships, and its commitment to its NHS customers through continuous investment in innovative products and services,” said Steve Garrington, Vice President, International, InterSystems.

The InterSystems TrakCare® Internet-based health information system will replace the trust’s existing iExpress PAS and will include core EPR with emergency department, theatre, maternity and electronic prescribing functionality. The trust chose TrakCare because of its unified design, and because it is a proven solution in the UK and internationally.
