Developers Recognized for Innovative Applications Built on Ensemble Integration Software
Cambridge, Mass.—May 30, 2007— InterSystems Corporation today announced the winners of its 2007 Ensemble Innovator Awards competition. The awards, which recognize breakthrough new systems built on InterSystems Ensemble® integration software, were announced at the company’s annual worldwide customer conference in Orlando.
InterSystems is a leading provider of innovative database and integration software. Its product line includes the InterSystems CACHÉ® high performance object database, InterSystems Ensemble® rapid integration platform, and InterSystems HealthShare™ platform for regional and national electronic health records.
The entries were independently judged by Jess Thompson, Research Vice President and Director at Stamford, Conn.-based Gartner,Inc. Thompson covers business process management, middleware and security for Gartner.
The first-place award went to OmPrompt, Ltd. (www.OmPrompt.com), headquartered in Oxfordshire in the U.K., for their Ensemble-based message integration service that enables smooth communication between their customers and any of those customers’ trading partners. With this solution operating in software as a service mode, OmPrompt enables business communication in multiple areas with primary methods that include translation of EDI-to-EDI messages, translation of fax-to-EDI messages, translation of voice-captured dialogs to EDI messages and translation of documents to EDI messages. Functioning as the primary development and runtime environment for OmPrompt, Ensemble provides a rapid integration environment, high performance database and high performance message broker that were especially useful to OmPrompt in the development of its award-winning solution.
Winner of the second-place Ensemble Innovator Award was MIND CTI (www.mindcti.com) in Yoqneam Ilit, Israel. MIND CTI’s winning entry was Ensemble-based MINDBill, a convergent billing and customer care solution that facilitates the provision of services for mobile, broadband and wire-line service providers. Mind CTI selected Ensemble as the best-of-breed workflow engine for its massive scalability, high availability and the fact that it enables creating human workflow steps as well as application integration steps and supports the flow logic relevant to both situations. The first Ensemble-based MINDBill deployment rolled out in late 2006.
Medical Systems Design (MDS) Pty. Ltd. (www.surgiDAT.com), based in Brisbane, Australia, secured third place for the use of Ensemble as integration technology for its SurgiDAT Application Suite. Developers used Ensemble to seamlessly integrate HL7 messaging and ODBC to existing non-HL7 applications as well as to build a web-based global message broadcasting capability. This is serving as the basis for a healthcare solution that brings together purchasing, clinical and financial data based on a patient-centric model. The first implementation of SurgiDAT with Ensemble went live in 2006 at a healthcare network that includes seven facilities. It has created significant ROI and represents a true value proposition for clients.
“It is a pleasure and a privilege to see how developers are leveraging Ensemble to build and deploy truly innovative applications,” said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning. “We applaud the winners and thank all of the developers for their truly creative solutions.”
