Misys, MedSphere, Partners Healthcare Unite to Support Virtual EHR Demo Built on Ensemble Universal Integration Platform
Cambridge, Mass. – February 14, 2005 – InterSystems Corporation, the leading application platform provider in healthcare, today announced that it will unveil a virtual electronic health record (EHR) built on its Ensemble universal integration platform at the HIMSS 2005 conference in Dallas, Texas. Together with Sapient, a leading business consulting and technology services firm, InterSystems will demo the solution, which integrates patient data from multiple applications and databases to offer a single, comprehensive view of a patient’s entire health history through a user-friendly portal. The portal addresses the national drive for improved access to patient information, as mandated by President George W. Bush who called for the elimination of paper medical records by 2014.
“The Ensemble-based EHR demonstrates a solution that addresses what has become a spotlighted healthcare issue nationwide. The ability to offer healthcare providers with the most up-to-date information on patients in virtually any location is a major objective for healthcare organizations all over the country,” said Trevor Matz, InterSystems Managing Director, Ensemble. “This virtual EHR is a working portal prototype that clearly illustrates the benefits to be derived by integrating patient data from multiple applications and repositories to offer a single view of the information through an easily accessible portal,” he continued. “Ensemble’s rapid development and integration capabilities enabled building this working EHR prototype in just a matter of weeks,” Matz noted.
The virtual EHR demonstration at HIMSS will contain components from Medsphere, which simulates a hospital environment with its VistA Hospital EMR, Misys, which represents a clinical laboratory and Partners Healthcare, which fills the role of a physician’s office.
Sapient applied its experience designing and implementing large-scale portals for leading healthcare organizations and other Global 2000 companies, along with an extensive understanding of physician needs and requirements, to help InterSystems develop a Web portal to support the virtual EHR.
“While many hospitals and physicians have already implemented individual EHR systems, healthcare professionals are still challenged by the fact that patient data is stored in multiple locations and in disparate formats. The ability to offer a medical provider comprehensive data on their patients – anywhere, anytime and from any information repository – will transform healthcare,” said Leslie Hoyt, Vice President of healthcare at Sapient.
Added Hoyt, “The technology is available today to make this vision a reality, and we are pleased to help InterSystems demonstrate a working portal integrating real-world data and applications. Providers gain access to the information they need to make informed decisions and patients benefit from improved quality of care.”
The virtual EHR is running at InterSystems Booth #6619 at HIMSS 2005.
