CACHÉ Database Classes Offered Sept. 9-13

Cambridge, MA—September 4, 2002—InterSystems Corporation today announced a training agreement with Agility Investment Technologies, providing free career assistance to IT workers in New York’s financial services industry who were displaced by the events of September 11, 2001. According to research compiled by the United Way of New York City, between 90,000 and 150,000 of the area’s workers lost their jobs in the past year as a result of the attacks on the World Trade Center – a center of activity for the financial services sector.

Starting September 9, the PC Learn Training Facility in New York City will be the site of a five-day course on InterSystems CACHÉ high-performance database. Clients from the J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Career Center will learn new programming skills, making them more attractive prospects for hiring. Although the program is valued at $1695 per person, trainees will pay nothing to gain knowledge of programming with CACHÉ, a growing, increasingly visible database technology in the financial services sector.

“All of us have been profoundly affected by the tragic events in New York City one year ago,” says Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems vice president of strategic planning. “This program is our attempt to show members of the city’s financial community how much we appreciate what they’ve done for us in the past. We recognize that New York has always been an important base of support for our technology, and we want to help these workers be productive again.”

“It’s our goal to help our clients gain the skills needed to be redeployed into the workforce,” says David Rottman, vice president of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. Career Center. “I believe this training program will boost our clients’ chances of employment and give them a competitive advantage.”

“The gauntlet is now thrown down to other companies to demonstrate their commitment to helping America get back to work,” says Ellen Shepard, chief operating officer, Agility Investment Technologies. “We would like to see other companies meet the challenge and help the economy bounce back.”
