Poor patient identity management lowers care quality, is costly, and leaves organizations vulnerable to litigation. In one study, duplicate records were found to cost an estimated average of $1,200 per duplicate pair, not including the time and cost to correct the duplication. Patient privacy breaches that violate HIPAA can lead to millions of dollars lost in settlements, legal fees, and penalties. Organizations can be fined up to $50,000 per violation and settlement payments have been as high as $6.85 million.

InterSystems HealthShare Patient Index is enterprise master patient index (EMPI) software that provides an automated and easily integrated solution for creating a “single source of truth” for patient identity and demographic information. Patient Index is pre-configured to work with InterSystems HealthShare Unified Care Record to accelerate the merging of multi-source patient information into a single, accurate, unified care record.

Key features include Data Quality Framework, workflow integration, customized rules, auditing and security and more. Patient Index uses uses sophisticated matching algorithms to help eliminate mistakes and liability from human error through manual record management, enabling organizations to provide accurate, quality care.

With almost a 99.9% true match rate through machine learning, the number of records on the worklist can be reduced by 47%, cutting human review workload in half.
