Certification renews InterSystems long-standing commitment to cybersecurity practices and standards through protecting sensitive systems and data
Cambridge, Mass., April 16, 2024 – InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve its most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, announced today that its Managed Services US (MSUS) system platform has successfully achieved Common Security Framework (CSF)-certification from the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST); an organization governed by representatives from the healthcare industry. The CSF provides a benchmark that builds on HIPAA and the HITECH Act, which have established and stringent requirements for the use, disclosure, and safeguarding of individually identifiable health information.
The InterSystems MSUS system is a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering that enables customers to fully leverage all the powerful capabilities of InterSystems IRIS and HealthShare without any of the worries about setup, ongoing technical operation, monitoring, reporting, high-availability, disaster recovery, data security, or software updates. The CSF establishes information and system security standards for the InterSystems MSUS by applying a risk-based, comprehensive framework of scalable security controls that directly address federal and state regulations. In achieving this highest level of CSF certification, InterSystems continues to demonstrate their longstanding commitment to security and compliance in a consistent and streamlined manner.
“At InterSystems, we help customers manage complex and sensitive data – from health information exchanges and individual patient records to the confidential records of financial institutions,” said Ken Mortensen, Data Protection Officer and Head of Global Trust at InterSystems. “Trust is essential in what we do to create assurance with the critical industries that we serve. A commitment to excellence and customer success guides our approach to maintaining the highest standards of safety and responsibility for the healthcare, financial, and public sectors. HITRUST certification reinforces this trust and credibility and demonstrates our commitment to data protection.”
“The HITRUST certification is globally recognized as validation that information security and privacy controls are effective and compliant with various regulations. HITRUST certification is considered the gold standard because of the comprehensiveness and applicability of the control requirements, depth of the assurance process, and level of oversight that ensures accuracy,” said Jeremy Huval, Chief Innovation Officer at HITRUST.
“Congratulations to InterSystems for earning HITRUST’s most stringent certification for information security,” said Adam Shnider, EVP, Cyber Assessment Services, Coalfire. “We’re pleased they chose us as their security compliance partner to navigate the assessment process for their MSUS system, like they have for other validations. We share InterSystems commitment to using robust guardrails to secure sensitive data for their customers in government, healthcare, finance, logistics, and other sectors that mirror our own customer base.”
InterSystems successful attainment of the CSF certification was made possible through strategic collaboration with Coalfire Systems, a leading provider of cybersecurity and compliance solutions. Leveraging Coalfire's expertise and industry-leading methodologies, InterSystems navigated the certification process with efficiency and confidence.
