TechSpring, InterSystems and J2 Interactive Collaborate to Solve Healthcare Technology Innovators’ Biggest Problem: Access to Real Healthcare Resources
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., and CAMBRIDGE, Mass., April 3, 2017— TechSpring, in partnership with InterSystems and J2 Interactive, announced the launch of a new software development environment that accelerates innovation for healthcare technology leaders by providing them with access to real healthcare resources and data. The environment is built on the InterSystems HealthShare® interoperability platform, and was implemented by the IT services firm J2 Interactive.
TechSpring—a healthcare technology innovation center created by Baystate Health—partners with selected leading technology innovators and provides them with access to real-life representative healthcare data in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable regulations. This enables TechSpring partners to test, prove, and accelerate the innovation of data management, application connectivity, data sources, and devices while creating meaningful insights from the data.
HealthShare expands TechSpring’s ability to engage with its growing roster of innovation partners, which currently includes Cerner Corp., Imprivata, Medecision, NTT Data, and Premier, Inc. With access to embedded actionable analytics and standards-based interoperability, including FHIR capabilities, RESTful web services, and HL7 —delivered via HealthShare—TechSpring partners gain a competitive advantage to go to market with user-validated innovations.
“The HealthShare platform allows innovators to safely and securely develop and test technologies and analytics in a real-world healthcare environment to determine whether their solutions are likely to succeed in the market,” said Joel Vengco, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Baystate Health and Founder of TechSpring. “Innovations that utilize big data in healthcare for insights and knowledge have the potential to improve the quality of care and increase patient engagement in western Massachusetts, the rest of the nation, and even the world.”
“InterSystems has a tradition of working with creative solution developers, and we are pleased to see the partnership with TechSpring and J2 Interactive achieve this milestone. We strongly support the efforts led by TechSpring to enable third-party application developers to leverage healthcare data. We’re encouraged to see the industry continuing to evolve towards data democratization so that advanced technology can help organizations transform healthcare,” said Qi Li, MD, Director of Innovation at InterSystems.
“We are delighted to help build and maintain TechSpring’s development center,” said Lou LaRocca, co-founder and CEO of J2 Interactive. “The HealthShare platform is ideally suited to demonstrate the impact of big data and analytics on the quality and cost of patient care. Along with our partners at Baystate Health, we’re excited to invite healthcare innovators from across the region to take full advantage of this resource for the ultimate benefit of their customers and communities.”
Those interested in proposing an innovation project are encouraged to fill out the web form located at techspringhealth.org/solution. TechSpring has a multi-step evaluation process for all submissions.
