InterSystems in Healthcare
InterSystems' vision for a fast and affordable path
to electronic health records
On June 21, 2006, the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation called on InterSystems’ CEO, Terry Ragon, as an expert witness to testify on his vision for a national electronic health record (EHR). This vision sees the EHR built as a composite application that communicates with systems already installed in hospitals and medical practices. This is an evolutionary rather than a revolutionary approach that avoids the complications and costs of replacing valuable legacy systems. Ragon also pointed to the use of InterSystems’ technology in successful EHR deployments in the U.S. Veterans Administration and healthcare systems outside the U.S. as evidence that the technology is here and ready for use today. See the links below for a video of the testimony and related material.
