Completing an InterSystems recertification delta exam is one way a certification candidate can choose to get recertified. The other option is to take the latest version of the exam.
All InterSystems Certification exams are reviewed and updated every five years. When the updated version of the exam remains largely similar to the prior version, a delta exam may be offered.
Delta exams are a shortened, abbreviated version of the full certification exam. They include a subset of questions from the full exam and are designed to assess candidates on core topics as well as new or updated content that has been added to the certification. This allows certified individuals to renew their certification without retaking the full-length exam.
Eligibility Requirements
Candidates are only eligible to complete a recertification delta exam if their current certification is active and the expiration date of the certification is within 6 months of today's date. Please see the InterSystems Recertification Policy for more information regarding eligibility.
Preparing for the Exam
Candidates should carefully read the Exam Details found on the associated recertification exam's homepage to understand what topics will be covered.
Buying and Scheduling the Exam
Delta exams are scheduled in the same way as other InterSystems certification exams. Instructions can be found on Taking InterSystems Exams.
Before scheduling, candidates should write to certification@intersystems.com to request an authorization code required to purchase the exam.
After the Exam
If the candidate passes the exam, they will receive an email notification with a link to claim their badge. Clicking the link will start the badge creation process. Please see the Certification Badges page for more information.
For an unsuccessful attempt, candidates may purchase the delta exam a second time.
Candidates are permitted two attempts on a delta exam. If the candidate does not pass after the second attempt, they must take the full version of the exam to recertify.
