About CACHÉ

InterSystems CACHÉ® is a high-performance object database that runs SQL queries faster than relational databases. CACHÉ enables rapid Web application development, extraordinary transaction processing speed, massive scalability, and real-time queries against transactional data — with minimal maintenance requirements. CACHÉ supports a wide range of development tools, programming languages, and hardware platforms.

Reliable, High-performance Database Software for Enterprise Applications

CACHÉ has a track record of success in organizations worldwide. Here are some examples of how healthcare enterprises across the U.S. have leveraged CACHÉ to achieve their goals:

U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs Builds Breakthrough VistA EHR System on CACHÉ

For more than two decades, InterSystems has provided the Department of Veteran's Affairs (VA) with the database software that enables the organization's healthcare initiatives. One example is the CACHÉ-based VistA electronic health record (EHR) system.

VistA allows authorized VA personnel to view EHRs for all of the 5.3 million patients treated at the hospitals, clinics, nursing homes and rehabilitation centers operated by the department. The resulting elimination of potential medical errors, increased speed of care delivery, improved provider performance and reduced data entry have made VistA the application that industry analysts cite repeatedly for setting the innovation standard among EHR systems nationwide.

Brasher’s Auto Auctions Select CACHÉ for Future of $1.5 Billion Business

Brasher’s Auto Auctions is the third largest player in the auto auction industry, generating more than $1.5 billion in vehicle sales each year. When mounting technical problems and concern about the future viability of its database vendor fueled a decision to move to a new database platform, InterSystems CACHÉ with MultiValue technology was the hands-down choice.

The auction company migrated more than 8,000 programs and cataloged procedures ranging from accounting applications through real-time bid processing systems to CACHÉ.  As a result, Brasher’s has a modern architecture that can be relied on as new capabilities that will enhance its competitive position continue to be added to its massive system reservoir. Moving to CACHÉ is what CIO Ty Brewer concludes is “a major success story.”

Partners Healthcare Relies on CACHÉ for Hundreds of Innovative Clinical Applications

Partners Healthcare System, Inc. is recognized throughout the U.S. as a leader in effective and creative use of IT. Boston-based Partners is an integrated delivery network (IDN) that includes multiple major hospitals with more than 5,000 physicians attending to four million outpatient visits and 160,000 admissions annually.

For years, the organization has used CACHÉ as the underlying database for literally hundreds of clinical and administrative applications that are used by tens of thousands of clinicians throughout the Partners integrated delivery network. One example: Partners recently rolled out an application that links biomedical devices in physicians' offices with the CACHÉ-based longitudinal medical record…the Partners implementation of an EHR. By introducing the concept of a vital signs workstation that automatically feeds a patient's most recent blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate and other key data to that patient's record, Partners is once again utilizing innovative technology to ensure top-tier care delivery.

TD Ameritrade Leverages CACHÉ to Clear Massive Stock Trade Volumes On Daily Basis

TD Ameritrade, a leader in the online brokerage industry, uses CACHÉ as the database platform for a Back Office System (BOS) that clears hundreds of thousands of transactions with clearing firms and banks every trading day. The brokerage firm views InterSystems as a strategic partner on whom they can rely for database software that delivers the massive scalability, high performance and reliability that is essential for the BOS, which processes and reconciles trades as well as manages customer accounts.

IT specialists at TD Ameritrade are confident that they can continue to add accounts in high volumes without stressing the firm's CACHÉ-based infrastructure. As a result, the company can move forward with executing a business strategy that is built on the aggressive expansion needed to succeed in the extremely competitive and pressure-ridden stock trading arena.

Bio Reference Laboratories Upgrades to CACHÉ for Faster Processing and Business Growth

Bio Reference Laboratories is one of the largest full-service medical laboratories in North America. Because it is still growing, Bio Reference implemented a major upgrade to an aging results reporting system critically important to the entire organization.

Developers used CACHÉ to create Web pages containing drop-down menus, selection lists, and other components all tied automatically to content in the CACHÉ database. Users now create reports simply by selecting items from the menus and lists, with the results displayed in a table format.

The switch to CACHÉ has also led to increased staff productivity, improved customer service and a higher level of security than ever before. And, by replacing five database servers with one CACHÉ server, interface interactions are now 30% faster, while data processing is up to 50% faster. The bottom line is that with CACHÉ, Bio Reference has the database it needs for continued rapid growth at a total cost of ownership that has decreased dramatically.
