Roche Diagnostics España Selects CACHÉ 2007
For New Version of
Omega 3000 Laboratory Information System

Database Software RAD Capabilities Cut Development Time of Rich Internet Application by 80 Percent

Cambridge, Mass.—November 6, 2006—InterSystems Corporation today announced that Roche Diagnostics España, an application partner headquartered in San Cugat del Vallés, Spain, is building the new release of its Omega 3000 laboratory information system (LIS) on CACHÉ 2007. The announcement came this week during the worldwide launch of CACHÉ 2007 database software.

CACHÉ 2007, a new version of the CACHÉ post-relational database, introduces InterSystems Zen, a framework for rapidly building rich platform-independent Web applications, and Jalapeño, which significantly reduces development time for Java programmers.

InterSystems is a leading provider of database and integration software. The InterSystems product line includes the CACHÉ post-relational database, Ensemble rapid integration software, and HealthShare health information exchange platform. Roche Diagnostics España is part of Roche, one of the world’s leading research-focused healthcare groups in the fields of pharmaceuticals and diagnostics.

Leveraging InterSystems Zen For Fast Time-To-Market

“Our business focus is on aggressively extending our leadership position in the LIS market with the new CACHÉ-based Omega 3000 product release,” said Juan Fernandez, Roche Information Solutions Director. “Rapid product development is a critical element of our business strategy and the capabilities delivered by the InterSystems Zen component of CACHÉ 2007 are enabling successful execution of that strategy.”

The Zen framework extends AJAX technology by providing pre-built, easily customizable object components while also supporting a high level of software reusability. As a result, it was typically possible to cut screen development time from one month to four days, according to Fernandez. “CACHÉ 2007 makes it possible to rapidly deliver the rich screen interface experience users want on a true thin client,” he said. “The combination of this rapid Web application development, extremely fast database access and CACHÉ platform independence makes us confident that the new Omega 3000 LIS will be embraced by our target markets.”

“Roche Diagnostics España’s Omega 3000 illustrates the product innovation we see among our application partners who are moving quickly to leverage CACHÉ 2007 capabilities, said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning. “We’re very pleased to work with them to deliver industry-leading applications worldwide.”
