Creative Socio-Medics Corp.

Organizational Overview:

Creative Socio-Medics Corp., a $27 million company with 580 clients nationally, licenses and installs its software products, operates an established service bureau and enters into long-term maintenance agreements with behavioral health and public health organizations, methadone clinics and other substance abuse facilities throughout the United States using InterSystems Caché. Creative classifies its operations into two business segments, Software and Related Systems and Services and Data Center Services. The Software and Related Systems and Services segment is engaged in the design, installation, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems that provide comprehensive healthcare information technology solutions, including billing, patient tracking and scheduling for inpatient and outpatient environments, as well as clinical documentation and medical record generation and management. The Data Center Services segment provides data entry and data processing for customers.

Experience with EAI:

Creative routinely provides interfaces to external products. In the case of a request to develop an interface to, or from an external product, it is necessary for Creative to perform an impact analysis to determine the feasibility, scope, and method of implementation, for the proposed interface. Upon receipt of request, Creative provides an estimate of the time necessary to perform this impact analysis. Most interfaces are done through the HL-7 standard.

Interfaces to the Avatar modules are an area that formerly required significant development for every new client. To simplify the development, and improve the quality of our interfaces, Creative has focused on standards. Health Level 7 (HL7) is a primary direction as it is the one standard across the healthcare market that all major healthcare vendors adhere to . Additionally, Creative has developed an on-line two-way SQL interface into our systems. Using this functionality provides an additional "middle-ware" interface into our systems that can be used by most other interfaces.

Creative is excited about InterSystems new Ensemble rapid integration line that will take application integration to the next level by enabling organizations to rapidly implement new business solutions that enhance the value of existing applications, orchestrate new business processes and integrate data across the enterprise.
