Scotland NHS selects TrakCare for electronic patient records
InterSystems is playing an important role as Scotland’s National Health Service implements their eHealth Programme – a bold vision for connected healthcare throughout Scotland. Specifically, a large consortium of NHS Boards has decided to use InterSystems TrakCare* as a national patient management system. In addition, Scotland NHS has chosen InterSystems Ensemble as their integration platform.
Scotland’s eHealth Strategy calls for the
establishment of a single, nationally available
system which will make patient medical
records instantly available to authorized
healthcare professionals, regardless of the care
setting. When NHS National Service Scotland
(NSS) – a consortium of five NHS Boards –
set out to choose a health information system,
they were careful to solicit the opinions of the
people who would actually have to use the new solution. Over 160 doctors,
nurses, administrators, and managers from the consortium NHS Boards took
part in an extensive evaluation that included an initial field of seven vendors.
Alan Lawrie, eHealth Programme Board Chairman says, “We believe that
TrakCare will play an important role in streamlining patient services, leading
to faster diagnosis and treatment while enhancing patient safety.”
