In 1909, President Nilo Peçanha enacted a decree which created professional education institutions. Originally known as the Escolas de Aprendizes Artifices, CEFET is known today as the Federal Technological Education Center, or Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica.
Currently, the Cefet-PB offers courses including Information Systems Support, Architecture, Electronics Systems Installation and Maintenance, Telecommunications, Telematic Technology, Inside Designer and Computer Sciences.
The University now has 152 professors, 143 employees and over two thousand students enrolled in degree programs.
