Subject Matter Expert Program

InterSystems Certification invites subject matter experts (SMEs) with expertise in InterSystems technologies to participate in various stages of exam development. We value our community’s extensive knowledge and experience and seek to grow our roster of experts for ongoing exam design and review.  

What to Expect

As a SME, you will receive training for all assigned certification development tasks. Activities are closely matched with your expertise and availability. The time commitment is typically one hour per week over the course of several weeks, with both remote and in-person opportunities available. 

As a SME, your participation may include:

  • Establishing exam topics
  • Developing or evaluating exam questions
  • Determining the passing score for an exam 

SME candidates must meet prerequisites to participate in the program, including:

  • Relevant hands-on experience with InterSystems products
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices 
  • Strong reading and writing skills in English

SME Program Benefits
  • Get Certified - Contribute at least six hours of work and receive the associated certification. 
  • Subject Matter Expert Badge - Contribute 12 hours of work to receive our exclusive Subject Matter Expert badge, recognizing your significant contribution to our program.  
  • Network and Learn - Collaborate with other experts, share unique experiences, and learn from others in the field.
Certification and SME badges are issued upon release of the exam and can be shared via social media profile, website, or email signature!  

How to Get Involved

  1. Share your background and interest
    Send a brief summary of your expertise and reasons for interest in the SME program to  certification@intersystems.com. We will contact you to discuss further and determine if your experience aligns with any open or upcoming projects.
  2. Confirm participation
    If selected for an exam development opportunity, you will receive a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) which you must review and sign.   
  3. Complete training
    Once your signed NDA is received, you will receive an email containing a short training video related to your assigned task and a brief survey to be completed before your training session with an exam developer. 
    1. During the training session, the exam developer will provide access to the exam development platform and any other necessary tools, review your assigned tasks and overall timeline, and address any questions you may have. 
  4. Participate
    Over the following weeks, you will complete your assigned tasks either independently or in structured meetings, depending on your assigned task.
  5. Receive your badge
    Depending on your level of participation, upon release of the exam you will receive a badge to share with your professional network.
