China, Beijing – 24 Feb 20 - As China grapples with the spread of COVID-19 many industries have been impacted, but none more so than the medical industry. Hospitals and medical staff are doing their utmost fighting against COVID-19, staying behind and sticking to their posts. It is their dedication that ensures other people's medical needs are met. One hospital delivering such care is the Amcare Women’s & Children’s Hospital.
As a medical information technology provider, InterSystems is committed to helping customers succeed through advanced technology. Throughout the current epidemic, InterSystems has provided a 24/7 technical support hotline, remote coordination, on-site support, and other ways to respond to requests from the front-line – and meet customer needs anytime and anywhere. It is a core value of InterSystems to provide high quality service to its customers.
InterSystems partnered with Amcare in 2016, and since then InterSystems TrakCare unified healthcare information system has been launched in three campus and one clinic in Beijing to provide high quality medical service to Amcare. After the acquisition of Baodao healthcare in 2019, Amcare planned to launch the TrakCare system in February 2020, in order to ensure that the Baodao campus can provide the same high-quality medical services as the rest of Amcare.
Faced with the sudden epidemic, Amcare decided to continue the original plan, after comprehensive consideration. As a new member of Amcare, the Baodao campus needed to fully meet the unified requirements of the group in terms of service standards, and better provide services for the patients. At the same time, Amcare has the same service commitment and purpose as InterSystems, that no matter when or where, the customer is first. This determination to provide better service to customers is never influenced by any reason, and under the current severe epidemic, this is a constant commitment and duty for them both.
In order to meet the requirements this time, InterSystems sent 6 technicians to be on-site support and another 3 technicians to provide remote assistance, to effectively ensure a timely response to any unexpected situation and to provide a powerful guarantee for the successful launch of the system.
Through the joint effort of Amcare and InterSystems, TrakCare was officially launched on February 24, 2020. Since then, the patient journey, from when they were admitted for consultation until the diagnosis and treatment were completed in Baodao campus, each step in the process, including the past history of allergies and medication administration record, is clearly present in the system. A unified view of the patient will also be fully present and include all previous prenatal maternal care through to birth, providing a full cycle of management. TrakCare's unique clinical decision support function and embedded analysis function can provide safety warnings for medical workers in real-time, so that they can make safe judgments with medication for patients, reduce system risk, and help medical workers to make quick, efficient, and safe decisions. This will improve the experience of pregnant women greatly and reduce their exposure to the epidemic.
Luciano Brustia, Regional Managing Director, Asia Pacific, InterSystems Corporation, commented, "We will make full use of our technical advantages in medical informatics at this time and we will do our best to provide support and help to our customers and patients. This is InterSystems' constant commitment and it is the responsibility of every member of InterSystems' staff."
