TrakCare users can now use Medicode 360 clinical encoder to improve speed, accuracy and compliance when coding clinical notes
Eton, 24 February 2021. InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve the most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, has today announced that it has integrated 3M Medicode™ 360 clinical encoder with InterSystems TrakCare® unified healthcare information system. Clinical coding provides the foundation of every organisation’s data; and employing a reliable and innovative coding system that supports coders is crucial for quality of care and proper NHS reimbursement. Today most hospitals in the UK depend on the functionality and reliability of 3M’s coding system to establish that foundation.
The new integration between the latest version of InterSystems TrakCare® health information system makes it easy for clinical coders using TrakCare Clinical Workbench to enrich and refine clinical coding using Medicode 360 and accurately group to the relevant Health Resource Group (HRG) . The updated clinical codes are automatically saved in the TrakCare electronic patient record, ready for viewing and reporting.
Building on over 30 years of experience, 3M Health Information Systems has enhanced the functionality of its Medicode classification system to assist clinical coding teams using TrakCare to code, map, and term using the national classifications (ICD10 and OPCS) with Medicode 360. Medicode 360 bridges the gap between clinician and classification language to deliver a consistent, computable and comparable representation of information that fuels decision making. A post patient discharge workflow that may have taken days is now achievable in a matter of minutes.
“Decisions made to improve quality and safety throughout the hospital are based largely on data supplied by the clinical coding team” says Don Woodlock, VP Healthcare Solutions at InterSystems. “Medicode 360 enables TrakCare customers to make more accurate and informed decisions across integrated care systems about provision of services or the health of the population.”
Through the power of intelligence, Medicode 360 increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the clinical coding team by presenting key terminology into the encoder for review in real-time. These in-built prompts and flags support coders to improve the accuracy, speed and compliance of the data captured, while also boosting productivity as they can more rapidly tackle worklists, alleviating any backlog.
“We are passionate about providing the most advanced coding and grouping technology to help customers use data to drive quality and safety” says Michael Ristau, Director of Strategy, Marketing, Business Development and International Operations at 3M Health Information Systems. “Together with Intersystems, we can now offer a fully integrated, real-time solution to customers”.
