During an upgrade to version 2025.1.1.308.0, the if the instance contains a web application name that uses a reserved name.
When this failure occurs, the installer attempts to update security tables, triggers an error, and rolls back. The rollback process deletes the prior installation, leaving the environment in a nonfunctioning state.
This issue affects version 2025.1.1.308.0 of the following products:
- InterSystems IRIS
- InterSystems IRIS for Health
- HealthShare Health Connect
- Other InterSystems products built on these platforms may also be impacted
Impact Assessment
- Likelihood: Medium – Only affects upgrades (not initial installations), and only if a reserved application name exists.
- Impact: High – Upgrade failure with destructive rollback. The instance stops functioning and requires a reinstall.
Resolution
- A fix will be included in InterSystems IRIS 2025.1.2 (October 2025) and in the point release 2025.1.1.313.1 (available now).
