Advisory: ApplyConsent Setting for XCPD Responding Gateway Process is Disabled by Default

This problem affects the following products:

  • All HealthShare Unified Care Record® and Information Exchange versions

Requirements:

  • IHE XCA

The IHE XCA interaction allows systems in other Affinity Domains to look up a patient identifier that matches a set of demographics using the XCPD Cross-Gateway Patient Discovery transaction. Once they have the local identifier, they can use it to request documents for the patient.

The HealthShare HS.IHE.XCPD.RespondingGateway.Process business host includes an ApplyConsent property that controls whether MPI-level demographic consent is applied to Cross-Gateway Patient Discovery requests. This setting is disabled by default. Customers that use IHE XCA should check the value of the ApplyConsent setting on their HS.IHE.XCPD.RespondingGateway.Process business host and enable it if consent checking for demographic data in discovery requests from other Affinity Domains is desired.

Note that the value of this setting does not affect clinical consent for information in returned documents.
