Advisory: Consent Filtering Does Not Block Demographics from Appearing on a Clinician’s Recently Viewed Patient List

This problem affects the following products:

  • All versions of the HealthShare® Clinical Viewer

Requirements:

  • Clinical Viewer, Consent

If a clinician had access to a patient record and viewed that record at some point, but the patient’s consent policy was subsequently changed to remove that clinician’s access, the patient may still appear on the clinician's “recently viewed” patient list. While the clinician would not be able to access the patient’s records due to the consent change, the recently viewed list will still contain the following demographic information for the patient some period of time (until the patient is no longer considered “recent”):

  • Name
  • Age
  • Date of Birth
  • Gender

While the limited demographic information for the patient will be visible to the clinician, clinical information will not be accessible.

This issue will be corrected in version 2026.1 of the Clinical Viewer. Please contact the Worldwide Response Center (WRC) if you have any questions about this issue and reference RISK-179.
