One of the largest healthcare organizations (HCOs) in the southeastern United States replaced its legacy on-premises data integration engine with InterSystems Health Connect to improve economics, reliability, and business agility. InterSystems fully managed solution reduces operations expense and complexity, while ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability for mission critical data transactions.

The InterSystems solution helps the HCO break down interoperability barriers and streamline integration efforts across the enterprise. The super-regional, not-for-profit health network spans multiple states, boasts 40,000+ employees and 8,500+ clinicians, and includes 900+ outpatient locations, 750+ physician clinics, and 20 hospitals.

The Challenge: Reducing Cost and Complexity

Like many healthcare systems, this HCO has grown through mergers and acquisitions over the years and leverages a variety of disparate EHR systems and medical devices. Different healthcare vendors and systems support different data standards and formats. The HCO used an on-premises integration platform, but it was inherently expensive and difficult to operate, maintain, and scale, and did not meet the organization’s stringent up-time objectives. The HCO’s chief data officer (CDO) decided to explore an alternative solution that would align with the organization’s cloud migration strategy and cost goals.
