InterSystems Corporate Privacy Statement

InterSystems Corporation is a global company with employees, customers, business partners, job applicants, and website visitors interacting with us online, in person, as well as through phone and email. This Privacy Statement (this “Statement”) will explain how we use your personal information regardless of what your relationship is with us and how it is received; please note, in our efforts to keep this user-friendly, depending on the context, other privacy materials may supplement this Statement. For example, additional details relevant to job applicants may be found on our career pages. No matter what the scenario, however, InterSystems respects and values your privacy and will not sell your personal information. If you have questions after reading this Statement, please contact us at: Compliance@InterSystems.com.

In short, no matter where you are, where you live, or what your citizenship, InterSystems provides the same high standard of privacy and data protection to all our users and customers around the world.

How Your Information is Collected

You directly provide InterSystems with most of the information we collect and maintain. We collect and process information when you:

  • Provide your business card to us at an exhibition or conference.
  • Email us at one of the addresses provided on our website.
  • Fill out and submit one of our online contact forms.
  • Submit a job application to us.
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.
  • Submit your name, email, and company affiliation through our certification portal.
  • Interact with us on behalf of (or are otherwise identified in connection with) your organization, such as a vendor, customer, supplier, or other business partner.

If you are a job applicant or engaging with our recruitment process, we encourage you to review our dedicated InterSystems Candidate Privacy Statement, which offers comprehensive details on how we manage your personal data in these specific contexts and complements the broader privacy practices described in this Statement.

How Your Information is Used

We only use the information you give us directly for the purpose(s) for which it was provided, unless you agree otherwise. InterSystems collects and processes your data so we can:

  • Administer your job application for a specific role; however, if you agree, we may use that information to consider you for other roles.
  • Process your information in the contexts and purpose of Developer Connection, if you are a member or are a customer representative.
  • Respond to your online “Contact Us” inquiry and/or email. If you agree, InterSystems will also use your information to provide you news and/or announcements, such as product updates, maintenance releases, services, and upcoming corporate events.
  • Facilitate our business relationship with your organization, including entering into, managing, or fulfilling a contract, or responding to related communications.
  • Verify and maintain organizational certifications through our certification portal.
  • Understand which parts of our website you visit and how frequently.
  • Improve usability, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the site.

Additionally, information we receive may be shared among our internal departments, offices, and affiliates, but only when there is a need to do so and always in accordance with applicable law. Third-party agents may be employed to help distribute communications and analyze information.

InterSystems may also receive your information indirectly. This may include business contact information such as your name, work email address, job title, and professional affiliation, depending on the nature of the interaction or business relationship. These sources include:

  • Customer applications, contracts, and related business communications.
  • Logged data from third parties for services such as conversion tracking.
  • Posts and submissions made by community users and developer forums, e.g., Developer Connection.

We process your information for different reasons depending on the situation. These include: when you’ve given us your consent; when we need to carry out a contract with you or your organization; when we’re required by law; or when it supports our legitimate business interests, like improving our services or communicating with you professionally.

Where we offer AI-powered features through an InterSystems account, we may process account information, prompts, questions, saved chats, submitted content, feedback, and related outputs for the purposes described above. For these same purposes, information collected or generated through one InterSystems account-based service may be made available to other InterSystems account-based services you access, only as needed to enable integrated functionality and personalization. Separate marketing or promotional communications are governed by the contact permissions you choose to provide. They are not implied solely by your use of these features. We do not disclose such information to outside third parties for their own independent analytics, marketing, or product development purposes. Where third-party service providers assist us in operating or supporting these services, they do so on our behalf and subject to appropriate contractual, confidentiality, and data protection obligations.

We keep your information only for as long as needed to meet the purposes for which it was collected and used, including to provide and maintain your account and related features, preserve saved chats where applicable, improve and secure our services, comply with legal or contractual obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our terms, and honor applicable rights requests, unless you’ve agreed to a longer period or applicable law requires otherwise. Retention periods may vary depending on the service, the nature of the information, and the functionality involved. Where information is made available across multiple InterSystems account-based services, copies of that information may exist in more than one service, and the retention period may be applied separately by each service based on its functionality, operational needs, and applicable legal or contractual obligations, subject to applicable law and rights requests.
