Advisory: Database Deletion Fail-Safe Option

This problem affects all versions the following products prior to 2025.2:

  • InterSystems IRIS® for Health
  • InterSystems Health Connect™
  • InterSystems EMPI™
  • HealthShare Unified Care Record®
  • HealthShare® Clinical Viewer
  • HealthShare® Provider Directory
  • HealthShare® Health Insight

Requirements:

  • Database deletion

When deleting a HealthShare database in affected version—either programmatically or through the Installer Wizard—the underlying .DAT database file is removed from the local file system. If the delete action was performed unintentionally, a customer may experience loss of data and operational disruption.

The correction for this defect is identified as HSIEO-9948, which is included in version 2025.2 of HealthShare and all future product releases. It is also available for older versions via ad hoc change file (patch) or full kit distribution by contacting the Worldwide Response Center (WRC).

With the correction in place, when a user deletes a HealthShare namespace using the Installer Wizard, the .DAT database file of the associated database is not removed from the local file system unless the user explicitly specifies that the file should be removed. By default, the Installer Wizard renames the .DAT file by appending the current timestamp to it. This change applies to both primary and non-primary mirror members.
