11. I am having trouble playing back an event. How do I fix this?
When playing back an event if the sound stops and/or stutters, it may be that the .srd file (playback file) downloaded to your PC is corrupted.
Below are a few tips to prevent this from happening in the future and to delete the corrupted file:
When you click on Playback, the webcast client window should open after a few moments. However, the recording is still downloading in the background. On a dial-up connection the entire download may take anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes depending on the duration of the webcast and your Internet connection speed.
To prevent corruption of the downloaded file, do not fast forward or rewind the recording during the download process until it is fully downloaded. To determine whether the recording has been completely downloaded, click the drop-down list of slides (to the left of the timer) to see if all of the slides appear in regular text. Slides that appear in italics have not yet been downloaded.
Check to see if you have an updated JVM version, version .3819. If you do not have it, you can download it from http://support.centra.com. Scroll to the bottom right of this page in order to download this JVM version.
12. Why can’t I attend or play back any eLearning events at all?
If you can’t access any webcasts at all, you likely need to install the webcast software and configure your system.
InterSystems eLearning Webcast Software Installation Tips
For New Live or Recorded Events (Centra 7.5):
The new InterSystems eLearning Center has a new and improved version of the eLearning software, so even if you have already been using our eLearning software, you may need administrative access to the computer from which you plan to view the webcast in order to upgrade your version.
|
For Older Recordings (Centra 7.2 and earlier):
Recordings originally made in Centra 7.2 and earlier require the Microsoft JVM v. 5.00.3809+ (the Sun JVM won’t work). Microsoft Windows 2000 included the MS JVM, but later versions of Windows have discontinued the MS JVM.
|
Windows XP SP2/JVM Install
1. Install Microsoft JVM 5.00.3809+
To determine which JVM version you have (if any), open up a command prompt by going to Start -> (All) Programs -> Accessories ->Command Prompt. At the prompt, type in ‘jview’ (no quotes). If the MS JVM is installed, several lines of text display. Scroll to the top of the text and find a line of text starting with “Microsoft <R> Command-line Loader for Java Version 5.00.3809”. If you have a version number below 5.00.3809, you need to upgrade. If you don’t see a similar line of text, you don’t have Microsoft’s JVM. Download the correct version from Centra. You may have to reboot your computer after installing the JVM.
2. Internet Explorer: Install Active X controls / Enable Scripting / Allow MS JVM access
In Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Security [tab] -> Custom Level for ‘Internet’ zone -> Enable the ‘Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls’ option.
Scroll down to the scripting section and Enable ‘Active Scripting’, ‘Allow paste operations via script’, and ‘Scripting of Java applets’. Click ‘OK’ to continue. If you’ve installed MS JVM, you need to allow the JVM access via Internet Explorer.
In Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced [tab]. Scroll down to the Setting section and find the Microsoft VM section. Check the ‘Java Console Enabled’ and ‘JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled’ boxes.3. Enable popup windows (or enable only popup windows launched from http://elearning.interystems.com).
Go to Tools->Internet Options->Privacy->If the box next to “Block Popups” is checked, uncheck the box.4. If using Windows XP SP2, add http://elearning.interystems.com to your “trusted sites”
In Internet explorer, go to Tools->Internet Options->Security [tab]->Trusted Sites->Sites button->uncheck the “Require server verification (https) for all sites in this zone” box. In the “Add this Website to this zone” box, enter http://elearning.interystems.com. Click “OK”.5. Launch the event you wish to attend, or launch the Centra installer by accessing the System Check.
System Check Instructions:
a. Connect and put on your headset if you have one, or make sure your speakers & microphone are connected.
b. Select the “System Check” link at the top right-hand corner of the page.
c. After each check completes, Browser, Network and Audio, select “Continue” to proceed. Do not check the “Voice Activated” box.
d. If you fail a check or receive an error, email support@centra.com or call 781-994-1110 x2 for client support.Note: you only have to do the "System Check" once for each computer system you are using, but you should run the "Audio Wizard" for each webcast.
To avoid possible problems, log into the eLearning system prior to the event and select the “Attend” option next to the event name. We also recommend temporarily disabling pop-up blocker software before viewing the webcast.
13. I have attended sessions or viewed playbacks in the past, but now I getting an error when I try to attend or play a recording. What do I do?
Uninstall the CentraOne client and reinstall by attending a session or viewing a playback.
