One of the critical components for developers building data-intensive applications is development time. The longer a company takes to develop an application, the less time their employees or customers are using it. Currently, there are various approaches to developing data-intensive applications. One approach is to use a variety of individual, specialized point solutions, while another employs an integrated data platform.
We compared the two approaches in a head-to-head research project: two different development firms created identical data-intensive applications for the Office of Sustainability at a leading national research university. In a recent webinar, Joe Lichtenberg, Product & Industry Marketing Director for InterSystems, shared results and insights from the project and what we discovered.
