This problem affects the following products:
- All versions of HealthShare Unified Care Record and Clinical Viewer
Requirements:
- UK National Health Service (NHS) National Record Locator (NRL) Service.
This issue was seen during a HealthShare implementation when integrating with the NHS NRL Service.
Care should be used when labeling patient pointers in the NRL. For example, pointers incorrectly labeled in the NRL as "mental health crisis plan" instead of "international patient summary" (IPS) resulted in end users receiving data whose labels indicated that they should not be receiving the data.
If this issue occurs, you will have to work with the NRL to remove the incorrectly labeled pointers.
The potential pathway to harm is that the mislabeling of these summaries could lead to ambiguity regarding patient data, with the end user receiving data they were not anticipating.
If a customer believes that they are impacted by this integration with NHS NRL, the affected organization should ask the NHS NRL team to provide a list of pointers that need to be removed, and then send a remove message though the interface to remove each record from the pointer database.
