The audience of the Shaping Tomorrow: The Future of Disruption in Healthcare roundtable sponsored by InterSystems and organized by Economist Impact was surveyed on the disruptions currently happening in the healthcare industry.
When asked what they considered to be the main motivators for disruption in healthcare, 62% answered more patient choice and patient-driven care. A further 38% replied payment reforms and financial incentives. None of those surveyed selected new models of care delivery as being the main motivator for disruption.
The majority of the audience said that the main hurdle for information sharing in the healthcare industry was challenges in interoperability (57%), while regulations around privacy/security were cited by 36%. None of the respondents selected patient consent as the main obstacle for information sharing.
