Frost & Sullivan Recognises InterSystems’ Leadership In Asia Pacific Healthcare IT Solutions

InterSystems Awarded Healthcare IT Company of the Year Following Successful Implementations in China, India, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore

SINGAPORE – April 22, 2009 – InterSystems Corporation today announced that it has been awarded Healthcare IT Company of the Year in the prestigious 2009 Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Excellence in Healthcare Awards, following successful implementations in China, India, Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

In awarding InterSystems, Frost & Sullivan judged that the company offers high quality products and services and is growing rapidly in the Asia Pacific region. This growth is driven by strong market demand for InterSystems TrakCare, an advanced Web-based healthcare information system that rapidly delivers the benefits of an Electronic Patient Record.

TrakCare offers unparalleled flexibility that makes it a strong choice for meeting the unique needs of international markets like Asia. Developed in Australia, it is one of the few international healthcare information systems to support multiple languages, multiple currencies and Asian character sets. It has high adoption rates by medical practitioners because the system can be adapted to local practices and to respond to changing requirements.

Frost & Sullivan also judged that InterSystems has had a positive social and economic impact on local and national communities in the Asia Pacific region. TrakCare is deployed at many of the top hospitals across the Asia Pacific region with over 30 sites in China, including United Family Hospitals and Clinics, and over 30 sites in Thailand, including Bangkok Dusit Medical Services, the country’s largest private health provider. In India, two of the three leading private hospital chains, Manipal Healthcare Group and Fortis Healthcare, have deployed TrakCare. TrakCare is also deployed in Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

InterSystems is also the world’s #1 vendor of database and integration technologies for healthcare solutions, including the InterSystems CACHÉ® high performance object database, the InterSystems Ensemble® rapid integration and SOA platform, and the InterSystems HealthShare platform for creation of a regional or national Electronic Health Record.

“InterSystems appreciates Frost & Sullivan’s recognition of InterSystems as the Asia Pacific leader in Healthcare IT solutions,” said InterSystems Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Joerg Klingler. “This award acknowledges not only the strength of our technology, but also our ability to work in partnership with clients to ensure successful implementation and adoption of our technology. Leading healthcare providers across the region are dramatically improving quality of care and efficiency using our technology, setting the standards for the industry, and we are very excited to be involved in these projects.”

“InterSystems’Asia Pacific business contributes significantly to global revenues and has demonstrated strong growth in 2008,” said Sohini Mitra, Research Manager for Healthcare practice at Frost & Sullivan. “This growth is the outcome of the company’s initiatives to strengthen their presence in the region, by delivering technology that enables healthcare institutions to enhance the way in which they manage and deliver healthcare services.

“The company is committed to developing and marketing products that give their customers competitive advantage. The launch of DeepSee, new software from InterSystems that enables better operational decision-making, is testimony to their commitment and is a reflection of their customer-driven approach to business,” Sohini added.

In determining the Award, Frost & Sullivan’s senior analyst team considered Healthcare IT companies providing clinical hospital IT solutions (Clinical Information Systems, Electronic Medical Records, Patient Administration Systems, Electronic Enterprise Systems Computerized Physician Order Entry Systems and Clinical Decision Support Systems) with emphasis on size of operations, geographical presence, revenues/growth rates and strategies employed to stay ahead in the industry.

The research process included interviews with industry experts, industry participants and end-users, as well as extensive secondary data research. Nominated companies were evaluated by an independent panel of judges who rated industry participants on predetermined measurement criteria, with InterSystems ranked number one among all nominees.
