Pre- and Post-DEVCON Courses
Offered by InterSystems Learning Services
As in years past, InterSystems is offering pre- and post-conference courses, tailored for both the novice and expert user of our technology. Presented by InterSystems Learning Services, these courses are another way for developers to benefit from DEVCON2009.
All courses are held at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Arizona. You must register for the full conference in order to attend any of these courses. You can sign up online for the pre- and post-DEVCON courses when you register.
Pre-conference course: Introduction to InterSystems’ Object Technology
This hands-on course explains the fundamentals of our object technology and gives tips on making the conceptual transition to thinking about objects. Participants create classes with Studio and build a simple stock ticker application using the classes along with InterSystems Zen technology.

Post-conference course: Caché Systems Performance Management (1 day)
In this hands-on course, participants will learn how to monitor and assess the performance of Caché systems. Learn:
1) How Caché interacts with CPU, memory, and disk running on various platforms
2) Caché tunables
3) OS resource monitoring
4) General system monitoring techniquesPrerequisite: To benefit from this course, participants need to have experience with managing Caché systems and to have completed the Learning Services class “Caché System Management”, or have equivalent knowledge. All attendees must be familiar with operating system administration as well.

Post-conference course: Introduction to System Management v2008.2
(2 days)
This course introduces the basics of Caché 2008.2 system management for those who are new to Caché. Topics include configuration, database management, journaling, auditing, security basics, and system monitoring. Exercises will be on Windows systems, but the course information provided is platform-independent.

Post-conference course: Ensemble Productions with HL7 v2008.2 (2 days)
This hands-on course addresses the processing and routing of HL7 messages in an Ensemble environment. The course focuses on working with Ensemble’s pre-built HL7 processing components and adapters. Topics include: Ensemble HL7 Architecture, HL7 Messaging, HL7 Business Operations and Services, Message Routers, Routing Rules, and Data Transformations.

Post-conference course: Caché and .NET v2008.2 (2 days)
This hands-on course for .NET programmers explores the many ways .NET code can access Caché. As they build a small .NET application, attendees will learn how our technology can be used with the .NET framework. Topics include: configuration, SQL access using ADO.NET, object access, and Web services.

Managing Ensemble Productions v2008.2 (2 days)
This hands-on course teaches Ensemble Administrators how to configure, monitor, manage and troubleshoot Ensemble Productions. The course also addresses using the Ensemble Management Portal for viewing, searching and resending messages as well as archiving and purging messages. No prior Ensemble experience is required.
