InterSystems DEVCON2009
Innovator Award Winners
The 2009 InterSystems Innovator Award winners were announced in Phoenix, Arizona, during the opening session of the InterSystems developers’ conference – DEVCON. First, second, and third place winners were awarded $10000, $4000, and $2000 respectively. And the winners were:
-
First place: Press Computer Systems (PCS), the UK-based developer of “Knowledge”, a media publishing and content-management system. PCS used InterSystems Caché and Ensemble to create a high-performance solution with the ability to automatically associate related content and create intelligent workflows for easier, faster, and richer content publication.
-
Second place: Lead Horse Technologies, the US-based developer of Medloom Decision Support system. Medloom is an adverse drug event (ADE) query tool and safety surveillance system that can deliver relevant results even if the search term is not found in available sources (for example, a search for “liver failure” will also return results for the term “hepatic insufficiency”). Lead Horse chose Caché as the only platform able to efficiently handle the anticipated volume and complexity of queries it will receive. Ensemble provides the connections to electronic medical record systems.
-
Third place: CommuniCare Tecnologia em Informática, Ltda (Brazil), developer of Connectivity ICIS, a healthcare information system for intensive care units. Connectivity ICIS uses Caché to consolidate information from diverse sources, including bedside instruments, to enable better care by intensive care unit clinicians. Connectivity includes order entry, clinical decision support, and personal health record modules, and delivers information to a wide variety of devices used by clinicians.
